L1 FLUX

Description

Description:

L1 flux is a common, widely-used type of submerged arc welding (SAW) flux. It’s known as a neutral flux, meaning it doesn’t significantly alter the manganese () or silicon () content from the wire into the weld metal, providing consistent mechanical properties. L1 flux typically produces smooth, well-shaped weld beads and is suitable for welding various carbon and carbon-manganese steels, particularly in single-pass and general multi-pass applications where good impact strength isn’t the primary concern. It’s generally classified under the F7A2/F7P2 specification (or similar, depending on the wire) when paired with a suitable wire.

Applications:
  • General Structural Welding: Widely used in fabricating structural components like beams, columns, and plate assemblies for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
  • Pressure Vessel and Tank Fabrication: Suitable for welding mild steel and carbon steel parts of storage tanks, boilers, and pressure vessels where moderate strength is required.
  • Pipe Welding: Employed in the manufacture of large-diameter pipes and for circumferential welding of pipelines, offering good productivity.
